Jeff Zeidenberg, MACP, RP (Qualifying)
I have always been passionate about mental health and empowering individuals, to make positive lifestyle changes. I believe strongly in the mind-body connection, and that in order to achieve optimal well-being, mental health needs to be addressed.
My concurrent experience as a naturopathic doctor, provides me with the rewarding opportunity, to support a variety of individuals. I work hard to investigate one’s underlying issues and to avoid simply suppressing symptoms.
I provide solution-focused, individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with a focus on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). I have much experience working with a variety of obsessions including, harm OCD, pOCD, hOCD, real event OCD, illness anxiety (health anxiety, hypochondriasis), unwanted sexual and/or violent obsessions, religious/scrupulosity OCD, relationship OCD (ROCD), contamination, existential OCD, and magical/superstitious thinking. In addition, I have worked alongside people with OCD, tired of being limited by compulsions such as checking, symmetry/ordering, rumination, repeating, washing/cleaning, mental rituals, reassurance-seeking, and avoidance.
My mission when working with a person with OCD is to provide them with a strong background in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and to build willingness towards performing Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). OCD can be a very isolating and debilitating experience and people with OCD, deserve an opportunity to become more knowledgeable about their current struggle, to feel understood, and to learn coping tools to help handle their OCD experience.
Over the last decade, I have worked with many individuals, suffering from anxiety, low self-worth, depression, perfectionism, grief, loss, guilt, shame, emotional dysregulation problems, panic disorder, body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and relationship issues. In addition, I have received specialty training in motivational interviewing (MI), holistic counseling, mindfulness, and advanced skill training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for anxiety disorders. I have much experience helping students cope when feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and low.
While every person is unique, we are all human! We are constantly prone to feel pain, guilt, sadness, and all the other emotions that can make us feel uncomfortable, scared, upset, angry, and even lead to negative or unproductive behaviours.
People often suffer in silence, for a variety of reasons. It is of the utmost importance to me, that I provide a safe and warm environment, where one feels comfortable discussing their concerns with no fears of judgment or evaluation. My mission is to continue to encourage individuals to be more self-aware, face their challenges with less avoidance, and embrace their own mental health.
What to Expect?
In our initial session, a client can expect to be gently encouraged, to discuss their current difficulties, according to their level of comfort. After the client’s relevant personal history and life experience are confidentially discussed, they can expect to collaborate on an individualized treatment plan, appropriately reflecting each client’s need for their OWN journey.
Clients can expect a compassionate treatment approach and plan, that parallels their personal goals and values. They can also expect to be informed and educated on how to move forward, in a more enlightened and confident manner. I intend to inspire others to experience added feelings of capability and control when facing any obstacle.
I believe that every person is their own expert.
I provide Video-based and phone psychotherapy (Telehealth) to clients across Ontario.
